Vincent Van Gogh Painting Project
Project Description:
For this project, we got to learn about Vincent Van Gogh and how he created his artwork. We got two pieces of white paper (one big one to paint on, one small one to write on). First, we looked at some of Vincent Van Gogh's art pieces, and then we got to choose one to go off of for our project. I went off of the sunflower piece he created that was called Tournesols which is sunflowers in french. We drew our ideas onto our piece of paper and once we were done, we started adding paint. We got taught to use a fork to make lines in our paintings replicating Vincent Van Gogh's work. I figured out quickly that the paint dries fast so you have to do the project in sections to create the lines with the fork. Once we were all finished with our paintings, we then answered two post questions they had on the board and wrote them down on our small piece of paper with our names on it.
Project Extention Idea:
An extension idea for this project could be to also incorporate blending and teach the students about blending. I realized while doing this project that if you go over two different paints with your fork it makes a really cool blending tool and design. We also could have the students come up with their own paintings instead of looking at the projects done by Vincent Van Gogh. This would allow the students to be more creative and not so original.
