Vincent Van Gogh's Project

Image
Activity Description: This project was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's Stary Night. We got to learn about Vincent Van Gogh and then create a fun project using his techniques. First, we got some dark construction paper to use as a background. Then we covered the background with tissue paper and placed them onto the construction paper by using glue and a paintbrush. After we completed that, we used oil pastels to create a line design on the tissue paper. I chose to do wavy lines almost like it looks like the wind in the distance. Once I was done with that, I chose the landscape I wanted to be shown in the project. I chose to do a wheat field as I used the colors orange, brown, red, yellow, and white. Construction paper was used for the landscape and then I cut it out and added in details with white and brown oil pastel. I wrote the three facts I learned about Vincent Van Gogh on a piece of orange construction paper and included it in my picture shown above. This project was very fun ...

Hidden Safari

The Safari Picture  Safari Glasses to find the hidden picture The safari Hidden picture is of a monkey hanging on a tree.  Project Description:   For this project, we learned about the artist Henri Rousseau who liked to paint the jungle with hidden objects in it. We learned how to draw upside down so our brains wouldn't stress too much about the object and it would just focus more on the lines. To start this project we got to make our safari glasses out of construction paper and red transparent plastic. We worked on our gluing and cutting skills. Then we choose a picture of an animal and placed it upside down beside us. We then got to drawing with a light blue colored pencil on some paper. Once we got our animal-drawn we went over the drawing with warm-colored crayons (orange, red, yellow, pink). Therefore, when we would look into our glasses we would see the hidden object since that was drawn in blue (cool color). We made sure to cover the whole paper with pattern...

Dot Day Art Project

Dot Day Activity   Activity : Today (September 15th) we celebrated International Dot Day. We started off by listening to the read-out-loud book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. After we listened to this story, we grabbed a coffee filter and different mediums- paint, markers, crayons, and sharpies. We put our coffee filters on a paper plate to make the cleanup process easier. You start by creating your dot masterpiece, once you are done with this step you grab some watercolor paint, water, and a medium-sized paintbrush. By going over the coffee filter with the watercolor you will be able to see what mediums bleed or don't bleed to make a pretty tie-dye effect.  Extension Activity: Instead of these being individual art pieces, the teacher could then combine all of their dots into one masterpiece by hanging them together to make a chain. You could also get a big white piece of paper and section off different parts of the paper. The students would get the chance to create the...
