My Footprint Introduction

 


Description: 

For this project, we thought of symbols that described us and created them in a way to put them onto our "footprint". By creating this we got the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the class. To make the footprints, we first outlined our shoes so our feet were big enough to add materials to. Then I drew some toes onto my footprint to really make it look like a foot. We were challenged to use no less than three mediums, so I used markers, colored pencils, watercolor paint, crayons, and materials I found. Adding the medium challenge to the project helped us learn all the different materials we can use to create art. 

Extension Activity: 

Another way to do this activity would be to create an "All About Me" bag. I would give the students a bag and they could design the outside of it how they would like. Then they would create or place materials to go into the bag that describes them. For example, the students could again draw symbols like we did for our footprints and place them into the bag. They could also place objects from their home or photographs so the class can get to know them better. Once all of the bags were finished I would have the students come up to the class and pull out three items to share. Then I would keep these bags placed into the classroom so the students can look inside their classmate's bags on their own time to get to know them. Or the student can go look inside their own bag whenever they are feeling down.  There are many different introduction ideas you could incorporate into your classroom. This is just one of the other ideas I thought of from this activity we got to do.

Elements and Principles

 Description of Project- During this exercise, we went on a scavenger hunt to take 12 photos of the elements and principles of art. Once we got those 12 photos we made a presentation to be able to teach our "future students". We had to choose what grade level we would teach and create definitions that are age appropriate for that grade level. Below is 5 of my favorite photos from this project and why I chose those photos to explain the element or principle of art.  Extension Activity-  One activity I could do in the classroom to teach about using organic shapes- would be to have the students go outside for a nature walk. I would tell the students to look around and find objects that they could use to add to their artwork. Once they found some things to use- I would have them come back into the classroom and have them glue those nature findings onto their paper. Stained Glass Art Craft

  Activity Description:   For this project, we learned how to make stained glass art. First, we learned about stained glass and how it is made, and its history. Then we went into creating the stained glass art project. We got to choose the subject we wanted to trace and then used a black sharpie and traced it onto acetate paper. Once we got our template drawn, we used sharpies to color in the template. We had to choose to either use warm or cool colors and at least 3. I choose to have the subject in warm colors and the background is in cool colors. The background is then created using geometric shapes and then coloring those in using the cool colors I chose. Once we were all done with coloring in our stained glass we got to use puffy paint to retrace the subject. This is used to represent the framework in actual stained glass work. 2D & 3D Monster Project

  Description of Project:  For this project, we got to learn about 2D and 3D shapes. We also learned about how to create different paper techniques. This was such a fun and engaging project that got the students to be creative with their work. The teachers challenged us by making sure we used at least 2 warm colors and 2 cool colors in the project. They also had us add at least 2 different paper techniques that we learned from the lesson onto our monsters.  Overall, this project was fun, engaging, and allowed us to show our creativeness.  Extension Activity:  To extend onto this project, we could do a writing exercise that makes up a story including the monsters the students created. I would have the students type up their stories and then attach them to the back of their monsters. This would allow the students to expand on their creative monsters and help them remember this fun activity that deals with 2D & 3D shapes, paper techniques, warm and cool colors,...
