Vincent Van Gogh's Project
Activity Description: This project was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's Stary Night. We got to learn about Vincent Van Gogh and then create a fun project using his techniques. First, we got some dark construction paper to use as a background. Then we covered the background with tissue paper and placed them onto the construction paper by using glue and a paintbrush. After we completed that, we used oil pastels to create a line design on the tissue paper. I chose to do wavy lines almost like it looks like the wind in the distance. Once I was done with that, I chose the landscape I wanted to be shown in the project. I chose to do a wheat field as I used the colors orange, brown, red, yellow, and white. Construction paper was used for the landscape and then I cut it out and added in details with white and brown oil pastel. I wrote the three facts I learned about Vincent Van Gogh on a piece of orange construction paper and included it in my picture shown above. This project was very fun and I would include this activity in my classroom.
Extention Activity: An extension activity for this project could be having a writing activity once the students are done with their projects. They could create a story that goes along with their work and then paste it on the back of their projects so others can read about it.
