Printmaking

Project Description:

For this project, we learned about printmaking and the elements of design. We first got two pieces of plane white paper that was cut into squares and we had to practice making a line design on them. Once we were complete with that task we compared the two designs we made and chose the one we wanted to use to make the project. The teacher passed out the foam squares we had to trace our designs onto to make the print. We made sure to use a #2 pencil as that works best. Then the teacher taught us how to create the print design using ink and a roller. We got to choose the colored squares we put the prints on and if we wanted to use black or white ink. I decided to use both black and white ink to be able to see the difference and I made a pattern out of it.

Extension Activity:

This activity was so much fun. While making my print, I thought my prink looked like zebra print. So I had the idea of an extension activity for the students to choose an animal that they would like to try and replicate their fur pattern to create a print.
