Clay Project
Activity Description:
For this project, we got to learn how to make a clay monster. First, we did a pre-assessment to brainstorm our idea before we started working. On the pre-assessment it had us list 3 cool colors and 3 warm colors, draw three different lines, make some X's and draw an idea of how we would like our monster to look like. Once we were done with the pre-assessment, the teachers taught us how to prepare the clay and create our clay monsters. They gave us the expectations that we needed to have 3 subtractives and 3 additives on our project. We got taught how to use certain clay tools to create our monsters. Creating the monsters were so much fun and then we got to paint them to make them look real. We had to at least have one warm color and one cool color painted on our monsters. Once we were all finished with our clay monsters we wrote on a piece of paper the name of the monster, where it lives, and a fun fact.
Activity Extention Idea:
An idea of extending this project would be to have the students create a body for the monsters. The teacher could do this in steps so it isn't so overwhelming for the students where they work on the faces one day, the bodies the next day, and then do final touches the third day. This would allow the students really to dive into creating a pretty cool monster.
